Trade Unions support keeping excess bureaucracy in UK Universities. Academics have to realise that the only way to get decent pay is to reduce the excessive bureaucracy and senior management teams in UK Universities. The senior managers keep overpaying themselves and employing ever more bureaucrats and then working the academics to the bone to pay for it. As a result the academics have become the overworked underpaid fodder for the management to work to the bone. The law firms have it the correct way round the lawyers run the partnership and employ admin support as and when required, that way they get well rewarded for their input.
