I would hardly call £65,578 "high-earning" - it is the top of the pay scale and nowadays most staff will reach this level. a more meaningful analysis would be of those above this, i.e. Professorial staff, where there is often no pay scale and much more is determined by performance.
A more meaningful analysis would look at all groups and all pay scales with proper analysis on causality. It is really tiresome to constantly see clickbait headlines that only focus on gender pay for those at the highest levels as if they were the only people that matter.
