'Undue focus on biomedical model of disease'? Doctors need to understand all aspects of disease in order to properly treat it. Too much focus on 'empathy' and detraction from the science of medicine will damage the profession. Empathy will not treat disease or advance the practice of medicine.
In Clinical Psychology we emphasise the biopsychosocial model of mental& emotional illness. The same model is used in Health Psychology. Such a model would also provide a model framework for medical education. It is a recognised scientific model with a sound research underpinning. It will not detract from the ‘science of medicine’ as the previous commentator fears.
