As if to prove the point about lack of empathy, Professor Hojat says this: “You can teach them, but it’s like you are just teaching a deaf student – they cannot hear it.” People who are deaf may not be able to "hear" audible language, but they can communicate, and they can understand--even abstract notions like empathy.
