Western University invites applications for the DANCAP Chair in Corporate Governance, a full-time endowed position jointly held between the DAN Department of Management and Organizational Studies and the Faculty of Law. This Chair is made possible through the generous support of the Dancap Private Equity Group, with the goal of advancing research and teaching in corporate governance.

We are seeking a scholar with a strong research record and a demonstrated or emerging international reputation in corporate governance. Applicants will be considered for a tenured appointment at the rank of Professor (preferred) or Associate Professor, based on qualifications and experience at the time of appointment.  The successful candidate will hold the DANCAP Chair for a renewable five-year term, with the appointment equally divided between the DAN Department and the Faculty of Law.

Duties  

The appointee will be required to:

(a)    conduct research into historical textiles leading to publications in refereed journals, a monograph placed with a prestigious publisher, or a body of design work whose outputs contribute to the knowledge and teaching of the textile/fashion design disciplines; 

(b)    collaborate with the Hong Kong Palace Museum and undertake research or other collaborative activities relevant to historical textiles; 

(c)    disseminate research findings through educational activities, such as presentations and exhibitions; 

(d)    provide quality teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level; and

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean of Faculty and the Centre Director or their delegates. 

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)    have a PhD degree in a related discipline;

(b)    preferably have at least two years of postdoctoral research experience; 

(c)    have demonstrated promise of a high level of creative ability in research and teaching in some subdivisions of his/her field;

(d)    be familiar with different textile structures and the methodologies and sources of examining historical textiles; and

(e)    be highly proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese, both modern and literary.

Preference will be given to those with experience in examining textiles from imperial China.

The Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King’s College London is one of the largest and most successful centres for research and education in the UK, with extensive global partnerships. The Faculty has six Schools, one of which is the School of Immunology & Microbial Sciences (SIMS), in which this post will be based. The School consists of four Departments: the Peter Gorer Department of Immunobiology, the Department of Infectious Diseases, the Department of Inflammation Biology and the Roger Williams Institute of Liver Studies. Collectively, the School conducts high-quality research, education and training in immunobiology, inflammation biology, infection and liver studies in the context of health and disease.

The Taams lab is based in the Department of Inflammation Biology. We are located on the Guy’s Campus, in the Centre for Inflammation Biology and Cancer Immunology (CIBCI), adjacent to London Bridge in a vibrant part of London.

About the role

Do you have a solid background in immunology with a strong interest in translational research? Do you wish to broaden your horizon, support ongoing research, learn new technologies and join a friendly, ambitious and fun lab? Then this research assistant position may be of interest to you! 

We are looking for a Research Assistant to join the laboratory of Prof Leonie Taams at King’s College London. The successful candidate will offer high quality laboratory research support for a number of projects in the lab including a Wellcome Trust Collaborative Award-funded project, aimed at identifying the cellular and molecular drivers of pain and inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis. In addition, the role holder will provide technical support for the processing of rheumatological samples (human blood, synovial fluid and synovial tissue samples) for ongoing studies in the Taams lab and our collaborators.

We are looking for someone with a good basic understanding of immunobiology, with an interest in applying their knowledge to the study of human inflammatory arthritis, and who has excellent organisational and technical skills. Previous experience in human blood and tissue sample processing, storage and recording is essential. Other essential criteria include demonstrable experience in human immune and/or stromal cell culture, cytokine detection assays, multi-parameter flow cytometry (e.g. Fortessa, Canto, CytoFlex) and molecular biology skills. The successful candidate will have knowledge of HTA and health and safety regulations. A proactive and problem-solving attitude, excellent data analysis and record keeping skills as well as strong interpersonal, communication and time management skills are essential.

This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 15 months.

Research staff at King’s are entitled to at least 10 days per year (pro-rata) for professional development. Description

The Division of Engineering (Civil and Urban Engineering) in New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a post-doctoral associate to work on research centering around infrastructure systems and the environment under the supervision of Dr. Ahmad Bin Thaneya.

The post-doctoral associate will lead collaborative efforts in advancing research focusing on the intersection of infrastructure, climate, and human health. Examples of current active projects include:


	Developing optimization models to analyze and mitigate fine particulate matter (PM2.5) exposure from various infrastructure systems (e.g., transportation networks, manufacturing systems, and truck routing).
	Assessing the relevance of the intake fraction (i.e., exposure efficiency) of major emission sources as a critical metric for infrastructure design, management, and policymaking.
	Investigating the residual sources of PM2.5 exposure from transportation systems following electric vehicle (EV) adoption, including exposure due to emissions from electricity generation for charging EVs, buses, trucks, rail, pavement resurfacing, tire and brake wear, and supply chain effects.
	Conducting life-cycle uncertainty assessments of building materials, carbon sinks (e.g., carbon dioxide removal options), and alternative low-carbon fuel sources.


Candidates should demonstrate a strong theoretical background and proficiency in one or more of the following areas: infrastructure systems modeling, emissions inventory development, air quality modeling (chemical transport models and/or reduced-complexity models), exposure assessment of airborne pollutants, and life-cycle assessment. The post-doctoral associate will be expected to lead research efforts and contribute to publications in reputable academic journals.

Qualifications:


	A PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering or a related field
	High proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python or MATLAB)
	A strong record of authorship in peer-reviewed academic journals
