Job Description

Taipei Medical University is looking for a motivated member with Ph.D. degree with outstanding academic achievements in the field relating to degree in Biomedical engineering/Bioinformatics/Medical informatics, or a related discipline, who will contribute to our international research profile in a cross-disciplinary environment. The new appointee will be based at the College of Medical Science and Technology at Taipei Medical University.

Selection Criteria Qualifications 


	Ph.D. with outstanding academic achievements in the field relating to medical engineering/bioinformatics/medical informatics, especially in medical image analysis, clinical big data analysis, clinical trials and artificial intelligence research, or a related discipline
	A successful candidate will have ability to apply for research grants and teach graduate courses 
	Preference will be given to candidates with research experiences in conducting large projects
	Demonstrated ability to apply for research grants, with research experiences in conducting large projects, in writing research projects, and independent research will be advantageous
	Passion for teaching and talent cultivation
	Exhibits great communication skills, teamwork ability, and capacities in international exchange and cooperation
	Excellent English proficiency and research enthusiasm, good communication with well-developed interpersonal skills

About the opportunity

The Sydney Medical School Education team is seeking an Education Support Officer (SMS Education) to support the provision of a broad range of educational support services to academic and teaching staff, in the delivery of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program.

The position requires you to be on site at Edward Ford Building, University of Sydney Camperdown Campus a minimum of 4 days per week. Hybrid options will be decided with your manager if you are successful in this position.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	provide operational and education support to academic teaching staff, including interpreting and applying University policies and procedures
	coordinate curriculum and assessment administration, including timetabling, LMS updates, student communications and tracking completion of study
	support the recruitment and coordination of paid and non-paid clinical academic teaching staff, including onboarding and guidance on University systems and facilities
	manage data and records across relevant systems (e.g. LMS and Sydney Student), ensuring accuracy and compliance
	liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure learning and teaching activities run seamlessly and meet the curriculum requirements
	contribute to the education support community of practice through collaboration, continuous improvement and adoption of new initiatives.


About you

To be successful in this role, you have:


	tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience
	the ability to deliver education services with operational agility, mindful of the broader faculty context and demonstrating an appreciation and readiness to adapt your approach in response to changing business needs
	the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, together with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement, and the ability to prioritise workload during busy periods
	experience working in a tertiary environment with working knowledge of using Learning Management Systems (Canvas desirable), together with sound understanding of timetabling/rostering of student activities
	demonstrated intermediate to advanced proficiency in various computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft 365 with the ability to leverage technology effectively to streamline processes and enhance productivity
	the ability to apply specialist knowledge to identify, recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives related to education services and processes
	effective and tactful communication skills (both verbal and written) with excellent client focus and the ability to build partnerships with internal and external colleagues and partners and between the faculty, precinct and school teams
	extensive knowledge of university policies and procedures and administrative processes within a tertiary environment and health environment.

Your personal sphere of play:

The group of Prof. Backus at the Institute of Physical Chemistry studies structure and dynamics of molecular processes. We apply static and time-resolved vibrational spectroscopic methods. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a PostDoc for 3 years. The position is dedicated to study with (time-resolved) sum frequency generation spectroscopy the structure and dynamics of water in contact with solid interfaces relevant for understanding catalytic processes. As such, active contribution to research is expected. Independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement and supervision of students during research projects.

Your future tasks:

Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:


	Contributing to research projects and scientific studies in the field of interfacial chemistry and spectroscopy
	International publications and presentations 
	Independently conducting teaching activities and holding courses in accordance with collective agreement provisions.
	Supervision of students.
	Participation in evaluation measures and quality assurance.
	Involvement in administrative tasks in research and teaching.


This is part of your personality:


	PhD in chemistry or physics at the start of the employment
	Experience in sum frequency generation spectroscopy preferable at solid-liquid interfaces
