The Scottish committee of the Dearing inquiry will comprise Sir Ron Garrick, chief executive of the Weir Group, chairman; John Arbuthnott, principal of Strathclyde University; Sir James Armour, former vice principal of Glasgow University; Ann Kettle, St Andrews Univeristy senior lecturer and president of the Association of University Teachers Scotland.

Janet Lowe, principal of Lauder College; John McClelland, Digital Corporation vice president; Finnbar Moynihan of Holyrood Secondary School; David Piggot, chief executive of Edinburgh Healthcare Trust; Sir William Stewart, former chief scientific adviser to the Cabinet Office; Joan Stringer, assistant principal at Robert GordonUniversity; and an unnamed student.
