The U owes this unfortunate would-be student a chunky amount of compensation for breach of contract - with interesting issues as to the amount such compensation that might be reduced because the S has through her efforts hopefully to some degree mitigated her loss. Probably £Xk for anxiety/hassle/stress and £Yk for any direct loss such as travel costs; assuming no compensation is now needed for what might have been a ‘wasted’ year if thankfully an alternative acceptable course has so quickly been found.
An ignominious end to philosophy teaching at Roehampton...
Surprised (?) that OfS wasn't approached for comment.
Not surprised, Roehampton has fallen to the bottom of the University student satisfaction survey. While unpopular VC Jean-Noël Ezingeard of University of Roehampton is the one of the highest paid VC’s with a bumper salary of £361,000 - it pays to do a rubbish job
