A unique collection charting the 125-year history of Marks & Spencer is to be housed at the University of Leeds, in the city where the retail giant was born.
The archive, which has been relocated from London, marks a new partnership between the university and the company. An exhibition, "Marks in Time", is open to the public, and the archive will be accessible for research and teaching purposes in a purpose-built facility on campus from 2011.
Michael Arthur, the Leeds vice-chancellor and M&S chairman Sir Stuart Rose, said: "We have one of the best academic libraries, and this tremendous archive will strengthen it."
