The leader of a London university has given his staff a personal insight into the demands of his role. Sir Roy Anderson, rector of Imperial College London, offered his "top tips" on leadership to the first staff taking part in Imperial's talent development programme. "Leadership is largely about trust; you need your staff to trust your judgment and your confidentiality. Experience is also important; you need to learn from your experience of interacting with people," he said. Sir Roy's masterclass was part of a 12-month scheme for staff deemed to have the potential to move into more senior roles at Imperial.
