Maybe if leaders pay awards were aligned with the rest of the University staff or they were made to be accountable for poor performance they would not feel so positive.
I agree with KJK (hello Kenton?) then there's this: "THE’s analysis also reveals that the leaders who enjoy their jobs the most are most likely to say that they found them more rewarding during the pandemic." which is unsurprising as most VC's and senior leadership teams like ours never came near campus (some still haven't) during the lockdowns, prefering to sit safely at home saving money whilst us 'essential workers' still had to attend, complete with all the costs of using our personal transport.
