The University of Nottingham has made a selection of its teaching expertise freely available over the web for individuals and organisations outside the university. It includes podcasts by experts and e-learning modules in subjects from politics to engineering. The project is part of a worldwide open courseware initiative launched in 2001 that has been taken up by more than 200 universities; it is among the first large-scale initiatives in the UK. No assessment is undertaken and no credits are awarded.
