The drawback is that talking about 'race' perpetuates the very issue you are trying to address. It causes people to focus on ethnicity as if it were significant when the whole thrust of the endevour is to ensure that it ceases to be a factor and that all people are treated as individuals on their own merits (as they should be, of course).
