Compulsory screening

A voluntary scheme to screen postgraduates entering British universities from countries believed to be developing nuclear weapons will become compulsory as administration shifts from institutions to Government. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said that the Academic Technology Approval Scheme will replace the Voluntary Vetting Scheme. From November 1, all students in certain categories must apply for FCO clearance before extending their stay or entering the UK.
