Although I know there should be a price for reading scientific literature, the assumption APCs are part of the "deal" is wrong. At least not the stratospheric prices big publishers are levying on readers !!! UC stand is the solution : walking away and letting Elseviers and the others coming back and accepting academia's terms. It may sound idealistic but open access is here to stay and will undoubtedly prevail.
