This shows their lack of open-mindedness and vision. Ignoring the very real concerns of several learned societies, for example, shows how reckless they are. We shouldn't be surprised, though. We are living an age in which ideologically-driven robots are leading virtually every aspect of our lives.
I assume the final paragraph should begin with "But THE understands that Plan S leaders are (un)likely to back down...
