The worst one I struck was during my 10 years at a Western Australian University where I was bullied, threatened, and abused simply because I refused to accept cash bribes from overseas students so that they would receive higher grades. The people who attacked me were my colleagues in the School of Management, my Head of School especially, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Business, and the University Vice Chancellor. These people felt that they were allowed to accept cash money from students (mostly from overseas) so that they "would not loose face at home", despite the fact that their knowledge of the subjects was quite low. This resulted in me being sacked from my tenured university position for being too honest and I was diagnosed with PTSD many years later. So the motto at this university became "Honesty is NOT the best policy".
