Welsh further education colleges help 250,000 people a year gain essential qualifications and skills and play a key role in the regional economy, according to a new study. The first detailed survey of the economic impact of further education in Wales, conducted by the Welsh Development Agency, found that through their combined purchasing power colleges support more than 11,800 full-time equivalent jobs and add £553 million to the economy.
