I'm really upset with the news that some software can steal the intellectual property of the students. Working in the educational sphere proves me that all real efforts deserve to be evaluated honestly. I'm not sure if such a situation can be the unique one but I'd like to recommend using other software, more reliable if you detect such humiliating features in the popular stuff. My personal experience with checking students' papers was a success with this plagiarism checker from Unicheck. I was surprised that due to its API I can even customize the interface while working and use it in Google Docs as Add-on. I've tried Copyscape as well but this one is better due to the speed and variety of opportunities offered. In our fast-paced world, the only way out is to try smth new, pay attention to emerged features and be honest while writing.
If I retained intellectual ownership of my papers submitted, then why did my first submission go from 13% to 62% on my revamped, updated & expanded paper? They dinged me for my own paper & now I am praying I get through my course with a passing grade. I feel violated! We are required to provide quotes and references with page limitations on our papers so meeting some guidelines is hitting us from the other side. I am so scared right now.
