Steven Schwartz, vice-chancellor of Brunel University, is to take up the top post at Macquarie University in Sydney. Professor Schwartz, the author of a government-commissioned report on fair admissions to UK universities, plans to leave in six months "subject to satisfactory contract negotiations".
