The transfer of the Office of Science and Technology to the Department of Trade and Industry will be the subject of an inquiry by the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee, as part of an examination of the Technology Foresight programme. The committee will also ask whether Foresight was necessary, how its recommendations should be implemented and whether it should be repeated. Memoranda should be submitted by September 22.
