Joint art centre mooted

Kingston University and the Wimbledon School of Art plan to establish a joint Centre for Art and Design but stop short of a merger.

Peter Scott, the vice-chancellor of Kingston, and Rod Bugg, the principal of Wimbledon, have agreed to present an outline proposal and business case for a joint institute to their respective governing bodies in January 2004. The centre - which would comprise Kingston's faculty of art, design and music plus the Wimbledon School - could be launched in autumn 2004.
