The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council is awarding almost £23 million to universities for research into greener urban living.

The council is keen to fund major consortia involving around six universities. The universities of Salford, Oxford Brookes, Southampton, Imperial and Sheffield will all be leading joint projects with other institutions.
