Gender study wins prize

Queen's University, Belfast, this week became the first winner of the national Athena awards for its pioneering work to encourage women in science, engineering and technology. Dame Marjorie Scardino, chief executive of Pearson, the international media and education company, presented £30,000 at the Royal Society event to Queen's.
