OK for animal research

The government has given its support to animal experiments. The pledge followed a controversial report published last year by a House of Lords select committee that said animal experiments were vital to medical progress.

Home Office minister Bob Ainsworth said the report was a key contribution to the debate. He also announced consultation with the research industry on the release of more good-quality information on animal research.
