Last week in The THES ... Maurice Saatchi argued for a reduction in taxation.
Perhaps Maurice Saatchi would be well advised to talk to his Conservative colleague David Willetts, who, among others, recently provided a rather more reflective and thoughtful contribution to the debate about the nature of the tax and benefit system (on BBC Radio 4's Analysis programme on April 11).
At this stage, given the previous administration's history in funding areas such as health and education, I suspect a number of us would prefer to label his Conservative Independence Day something more like Selfishness Day.
