AT&T, the US telecoms group that recently formed a global partnership with BT, is the new funder of the Olivetti & Oracle Research Laboratory in Cambridge, to be known as AT&T Laboratories Cambridge with a budget of Pounds 30 million over the next six years. Cambridge University professor Andy Hopper, who founded the lab 13 years ago, remains in charge. The focus is networking, multimedia and mobile communications.
