Vice-chancellor pay survey corrections

The names of two universities were transposed in our pay survey table (THES, February 5). P. Dowling was vice-chancellor of the University of Surrey while A. Smith/G. Conway headed the University of Sussex in 1997-98. It was also reported that four staff at the University of Kent earned more than Pounds 100,000. In fact no one there earned that amount.
