FE lags behind schools

Schools and sixth-form colleges still outstrip further education colleges in average points scored by students taking A levels and vocational qualifications. Provisional figures from the Department for Education and Employment show that 18.3 was the average score per school candidate entered for two or more A and AS level and Advanced General National Vocational Qualifications. The equivalent for sixth-form colleges was 16.6 and for FE colleges 13.2.
