The University of the West of England this week defended graduate-level nursing education.
Responding to a comment, by the chairman of the human resources committee of the NHS Confederation, that "you do not need three A levels to be a caring person", UWE faculty dean Steven West said: "It's true that you don't need three A levels to provide basic patient care. But increasingly the complexities and demands of specialist nursing today call for a high level of education."
