Deadline for New Deal cash approaches

COLLEGES have just over a week left in which to apply for extra money to educate more young people and long-term unemployed adults. Up to Pounds 6 million is available for 1997-98. Colleges have until January 12 to apply for the money, which is an advance on the government's New Deal plans for young people who have been unemployed for six months or more and for those over 25 who have been out of work for more than two years.
