Windfall for genes farming probe

THE BIOTECHNOLOGY and Biological Sciences Research Council is putting Pounds 4.5 million into a project to exploit developments in genome analysis of crops and livestock. Genome Analysis of Agriculturally Important Traits (GAIT) will support research to identify and manipulate crucial genes and will combine scientific developments with technology transfer. Twenty-eight projects, totalling Pounds 3.7 million, have already been announced.
