Lib Dems appoint Lamont nemesis to higher role

Phil Willis, MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough, has been appointed Liberal Democrat higher education spokesman in an expanded front bench team led by Don Foster. Mr Willis, a headteacher before entering Parliament in one of the most publicised Liberal Democrat gains at the last election - he defeated former chancellor Norman Lamont - reaffirmed Liberal support for free tuition for all approved courses up to degree level.
