(Photograph) - Ted Nelson arrives at Southampton University for the Hypertext 97 conference, where tonight he will speak on a live video link to the sixth international World Wide Web conference in Santa Clara, California. Professor Nelson invented the word "hypertext" and foresaw all the world's knowledge interlinked on a global computer network, only to see his own Xanadu system overtaken by the World Wide Web. He now works at Keio University in Japan.
