Well, David Null (!) -- I think that if Gary Thomas must be ‘mad’, then you must be ‘silly’. The original comparison in the article is still apposite and thought-provoking. But presumably, the thought provoked in you by that fact concerns shrinking rulers that have turned 100m into 80m without anyone noticing, and that running just ain’t what it used to be. And let’s not forget that poor old James Gallaugher has undeniably suffered from being criminally exposed to junk food, new-age training methods, and sports-related reality TV/wish-fulfilment adolescent literature. So his so-called record is unarguably devalued and pointless. Innit? Yes: here’s to the good old days, which manifestly and undeniably produced the perfect world – and perfect thinking, such as that you’ve demonstrated here.
