Joe Hendron, SDLP MP for West Belfast, and Cecil Walker, Unionist MP for North Belfast, are urging prime minister John Major to salvage Ulster University's plans for a peaceline campus which would straddle their constituencies.

They stress that Government support would be a vote of confidence in the peace process itself. The university recently mothballed its three-year-old initiative for a campus on the derelict Springvale site because of lack of support from the Northern Ireland Office.
