The Wellcome Trust has announced a cash injection of £137 million over nine years for postgraduate biomedical research training. The money will be used to extend the trust's four-year PhDs for biomedical scientists and fund a number of three-year PhDs for clinical scientists. The four-year scheme will see students spending the first year working in a range of laboratories before choosing the PhD research project.
