The story declaring that opposition from the Standing Conference of Principals has scuppered the formation of an over-arching British Higher Education Council is not based on any position held by SCOP ("FE leapfrogs wannabe unis", THES, February 26). SCOP has made representation to the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals working group, not in opposition but in support of such a council, given appropriate representation for the colleges of HE along with the universities.
