A university has announced plans to build three wind turbines as part of a series of measures to reduce its carbon footprint. The University of Nottingham hopes the 125m high windmills, earmarked for university land next to the River Trent, will provide a third of its electricity needs from 2012, accounting for 40 per cent of the carbon reductions it is targeting by 2015. The university is to hold a public exhibition and consultation on the scheme before submitting a planning application early next year.
