University of Nottingham and AUT issue a joint statement over job losses

The University of Nottingham and the AUT have taken the unusual step of issuing a joint statement over job losses.

They have reassured staff that none will face compulsory redundancy over research performance because enough people have agreed to go voluntarily. This means the university should be able to tackle its Pounds 2.4 million deficit.

Managers had planned to save money by axing up to 50 academics, selected on their research performance.
