Bristol University's computer science department has installed 100 cost-cutting workstations that use an office productivity application available on the internet.

The Ultra Sparc units from Sun Microsystems will be loaded with StarOffice. This means the department can teach Java on industry standard Unix workstations. The decision has saved the university the cost of licensing an alternative application for word processing, spreadsheets and presentations.
