Too few family savers

Almost half of parents fail to save money for their children's university education, according to research by the Association of Investment Trust Companies. The research found that while a quarter of would-be students expected their parents to foot the bill, 40 per cent of parents did not save. It also found that would-be students estimate that their debt on graduation will be £7,208 - much less than expert predictions of £13,500.
