* The government has split Aus$10 million between two Australian studies centres - the Sir Robert Menzies Centre for Australian Studies at the University of London and the Centre for Australian and New Zealand Studies at Georgetown University.

Dr Kemp said the funding would enable both institutions to expand their activities in teaching courses on Australian studies, postgraduate seminars, public lectures, conferences, research, and exchanges.
