A Cambridge maths graduate who earned a fortune in the 1980s Silicon Valley boom in the United States has donated Pounds 1 million for a mathematical sciences centre at the university. Nick Corfield moved to the US in 1982 and four years later started a highly profitable technical publishing business. His donation will contribute to Cambridge's Pounds 25 million centre.
