Ian Dalton, director of Heriot-Watt University research park since 1971, has been appointed managing director of Edinburgh University's flagship technology transfer project, the Edinburgh Technopole Company Ltd. Mr Dalton will be responsible for a "science precinct", including cultural, recreational and residential facilities and linking research centres to technology-based companies.
