University business spin-off activity in the UK is healthy, according to a report from Library House. Spinning Out Quality: University Spin-out Companies in the UK reports that there are more than 590 university spin-off companies in the UK. These raised a total of about £160 million in institutional investment in 2006, which represents almost 12 per cent of all venture capital funding in the UK.
