Shortage subjects suffering

Newly qualified teachers in shortage subjects such as maths and science are more likely to teach poor lessons, according to a report by Ofsted. Teaching by 16 per cent of maths NQTs and 15 per cent of science NQTs was rated as unsatisfactory, compared with 5 per cent in history and 7 per cent in physical education.
