(Photograph) - Saudi Arabian dissident Muhammed Al-Mass'ari, who is fighting a deportation order, launches his bid to become rector of Glasgow University in the February 28 election. Professor Al-Mass'ari, who held a chair in mathematical physics before fleeing to Britain in 1994, was nominated by the university's Liberal Democrat society, and is supported by George Galloway (right), Labour MP for the local Glasgow Hillhead constituency. Official Labour club support is for One Foot in the Grave actor Richard Wilson.
