Do you want people in positions merely to tick boxes for some characteristic or do you want them there for what they can do for the institution? Yes, diversity is the best way to get a breadth of views and ideas... but it is not just found through the narrow lens of looking for people who don't happen to be white. Our VC is foreign, but white-skinned. By this "race" centered approach they count as non-inclusive despite the different world view they bring to us.
