Golden hellos of Pounds 5,000 will be offered to high-flying graduates who join the teaching profession, education secretary David Blunkett has confirmed.
But the Liberal Democrats said this week that the teaching recruitment crisis will only be solved if postgraduate trainee teachers are offered a "salary" of Pounds 8,000 a year.
